Cephalopod Plans for Earth’s Surface Ruined by Human

Early Tuesday Morning, A Two-Spotted Octopus at the Santa Monica Aquarium managed to re-route sea-water into the offices of its land-based captors, in an attempt to make the Planet’s surface habitable for Sea-dwellers.

This first attempt at making tasty land walkers more accessible to Cephalopod kind was foiled by Brianne Emhiser who in her page, claims to dislike having enemies, even though her recent action has all but killed her approval rating amongst oceanic flora and fauna alike.

Up for sale, finally

The Original Painting of “The Machine” Available here

#I of II Artist Print Giclees available currently on Ebay starting at a greatly reduced price.

I’ve held off on putting this one up for sale, because I wanted to sit on it a while before I varnished it… just in case I decided to add any finishing touches. I also wanted to wait until it was was varnished, because it might have been a bit embarrassing and inconvenient to have a varnishing mishap *after* it sold.

Now that it is ready to go, and I have finally come to accept the notion of parting with it, it is yours, or rather it can be yours… if you can afford to buy a highly detailed 48 x 24 inch painting. I debated long and hard with myself over whether I wanted to auction it, sell it outright, or hold onto it till summer – and finally decided to put it up here.

The painting is in acrylic on a 1/4 inch thick birch panel, protected and accented by a heavy coat of semi-gloss varnish. It is sold unframed, because I’d imagine that the buyer would have their own framing options in mind as per their home existing decor… though I can leave the existing cherry-toned frame around it for no additional cost, if the buyer so wishes.

Prints, I might add, are currently available as well. They are available as limited edition giclees on canvas (44×22), limited edition giclees on Hahnemuhle fine art rag paper (36×24), and limited edition metallics (48×24).

I split the run between these three media to suit the needs of those who bought prints of the previous piece on canvas or metallic, and also made a lesser-priced (but equal in quality) fine art rag version available to those who prefer it, as well as those who want the prints in the exact size of the original painting.

The fine art rag paper, is awesome – more the consistency and durability of fabric than paper, and super-vivid in its presentation of detail and color.

All of which printed in fine archival pigment inks, signed and numbered with the holographic serialized Hahnemuhle certificate of authenticity. The total combined size of these editions comes to only 150 total pieces – which if you consider the amount of people living on the planet – makes them quite rare.

Canvas and metallics available currently are hand-embellished in addition to their usual hand-signing and certification, but no different in price, as an incentive to buy early. When they are gone, I will update the store with the non hand-embellished ones.

There are also smaller sized open edition metallics available, for those with less wall space to fill.

Because my current store does not allow for multiple images, here are some pictures of the details (click to view full-size):

Catching up

I am home now, have a number of things to catch up on – a few items to ship, those commissions to get working on.

Thank you Brian, Coni, Seth, Lexxie – Being able to make it back home this past weekend means more to me than I can even try to express in words.

Thank you.

H.M.S. … Commission

Offer Valid through February 20th, as it is only being made to get me home and airfare is rising by the minute.

3 2 commissions are being offered, each for a 24×24 painting in acrylic or in oil of an airship to complete my dirigibles series. Price: $150

The painting will be yours. Shipping within the US is $25, shipping outside the US is $75 ($65 shipping plus $10 for additional crating)

You can make specifications, within reason, such as “lots of cannons”, or the general color scheme of the painting, type of scene (above a forest, over an icy field, in the desert, etc..).

… And Sorry, before you ask, I cannot do Abney Park’s Airship for you.

I keep the rights to art prints, reproduction in art books, and other commercial use. If you need it for some music-related commercial use, such as a CD cover, that will be no problem as I am more in the business of quality archival prints.

Paintings will be done in the order received.

Turnaround time is not quick, as I am very picky about what I let go. Acrylics ship faster (no drying time) – minimum time per painting will be two weeks – and I will keep you updated.

[edit] These commissions have been placed as items within the store.

Sorry I forgot to mention that before.

Important

This is something I am jotting down here so it does not get lost in my sea of bookmarks or on my cluttered desktop, but I recommend, if you are an artist, author, or musician, that you follow the below link and bookmark it yourself… or better yet, if you are able, follow through with it.

It is a blog by Neil Gaiman about wills for creative types, and the importance of having one. He has even been so kind as to provide a template for the will in pdf format.

The blog, containing said document, is here

Quick News

The site will be undergoing some serious revisions shortly. I have put off a redesign for a while now, but I need to drop my google ads and replace them with something better.

I also need to upgrade, re-install, and rewrite some of my plugins and other things, update links for broken videos in my player, and most importantly – make this thing more roomy and easier to read.

In the next few weeks, this site may revert to the default templates, looking very very plain. It might even present itself incorrectly or broken for a few seconds or minutes here or there, as I will likely make an oops here or there. There are a lot of changes to be made. I am going to miss this design, but hopefully the upcoming one is more striking and easier to navigate and read. This might even force me to fill in some of those much-neglected sections.

The current sale – extended till New Years, then renewed up to Valentines day, will end on March 1st. I need to return a lot of things to their normal prices, putting new and different things on sale soon after.
